La Puerta

Winner of Interior Magazine Best of Year 2023

This expansive hotel in Jericó, Colombia, represents our most ambitious intersection of hospitality, landscape architecture, and cultural heritage. Winning an Interior Design Best of Year award, La Puerta de Puente Iglesias is a 16,000-square-meter masterclass in context-driven design. It perfectly answers the question: How do you build a luxury resort in the heart of Colombia’s coffee region without erasing the landscape that people come to see?

Instead of erecting a towering monument, we embedded the hotel’s massive footprint directly into the hillside. From above, the sweeping green roofs render the structure almost invisible, allowing the architecture to act as a natural continuation of the undulating topography.

The project utilizes rocks discarded by the region’s specialty coffee farms. By repurposing this local agricultural byproduct, we devised a handcrafted construction method that relies entirely on local labor and ancestral stonemasonry, bridging high design with community stewardship.
